Carla Lodewijks
Senior Physiotherapist
Growing up in Johannesburg, South Africa, Carla’s affinity for sports intertwined with her discovery of physiotherapy as she experienced firsthand the transformative power of proper injury management. She embarked on her journey by completing her BSc in Physiotherapy at Stellenbosch University in 2007, laying the foundation for her career.
After a year of serving a rural village on the Mozambican border, Carla delved into private practice in Johannesburg in 2009. Her thirst for knowledge led her to pursue two year-long diplomas in sports and musculoskeletal physiotherapy, enhancing her expertise.
The allure of travel beckoned, leading Carla to Holland, where she dedicated herself to the South African Women’s hockey team in preparation for the London 2012 Olympics. At the Olympics, she ventured into the realm of football, providing physiotherapy services to FIFA referees.
London became Carla’s home for the next six years, during which she honed her skills in various fields, from manual therapy to rehabilitation, pilates, and motor control. In 2015, her journey brought her to Australia, where she completed the manual concepts course through Curtin University, solidifying her passion for combining manual and rehab concepts to address soft tissue injuries and mechanical imbalances.
Carla’s expertise extends to treating a spectrum of issues, from lower back dysfunctions to foot and ankle injuries, and post-op shoulder rehabilitation. Her favourite pursuits, including running, cycling, swimming, and tennis, reflect her active lifestyle, balanced with moments of relaxation over a glass of wine or coffee. Trust Carla to uncover the root cause of your injuries and guide you towards optimal recovery and performance.
